Positano is a municipality on the Amalfi Coast in the Italian province of Salerno and has approximately 3.950 inhabitants. The surface is 8,4 km². It is located between Sorrento and Amalfi. Nearest major cities are Salerno and Napels.
Positano lies like a colorful palette against the rocks. The town on the Amalfi Coast was described by Paul Klee as 'the only place in the world with a vertical rather than a horizontal base'. You do indeed get the suspicion that there is no other way than the one up. Outside the wide boulevard along the coast, steep alleys and countless stairs await. It is very hot in Barcelona in summer. It is wonderful to escape to the beach at the end of the day or to relax on one of the terraces by the sea. The beaches at Sitges are especially easy to do.
