1. SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser, Brixental | Austria
SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser in Brixental is the largest ski area in the snow-crazed Austria and by far a favorite among Dutch winter sports enthusiasts. It is located in the Kitzbüheler Alpen and has everything you could wish for when it comes to great winter sports. The villages are super cozy in winter and the après-ski is a big party everywhere. The slopes are always top notch with three beautiful ski tours as highlights, namely the Salverunde, Kaiserrunde and Westendorfrunde. Each and every one of them stunning trips over gentle slopes and beautiful slopes. This area is the icing on the cake for both snowboarder and skier. The views are astonishing, the freestyle parks übercool and the après-ski bars, according to many connoisseurs the best in all France† If you are a beginner, take it easy on the small slopes. If you want to go off-piste, the possibilities are endless. And do you really feel like a big tour? Then the Grand Tour de Trois Vallées is exactly what you want! Take a break? Then take the largest zipline in the world: the Tyroliene from Télésiège du Bouchet.
3. Breuil-Cervinia | Italy and Switzerland
Finally, we tip you this ski area that is both in Italy as a Switzerland is. Breuil-Cervina is located in the Aosta Valley, below the Matterhorn and has the longest descent in the world. It is the crème de la crème of winter sports destinations. You will first have to go up with a drag lift to start the 22 km (!) long descent. If you are a daredevil, then this area may not be the ideal setting for unsurpassed winter sports. The slopes are generally a bit 'bland'. Lots of red and blue runs, very few black runs. The advantage is that this ski area is known for being very safe. The highest peak can be found on the Italian side at Plateau Rosa. From 3480 m altitude you can start the long descent here. Do you want even higher? Then take the world's highest ski lift on the Swiss side, the Matterhorn Express. Via this lift you float over jagged glaciers to the end point of the Kleine Matterhorn at 3883 m altitude.
