When you think of camping, you quickly think of renting a camper, but that is not necessary. After arriving in America, you can choose to purchase affordable camping and camping equipment from stores such as Walmart. These stores have a wide range of affordable tents, sleeping bags, cooking utensils and other necessities. This way you also save on food and drink costs. This way you have everything you need for a comfortable night under the stars. And sleeping in your car is also an option!

An example: I visited Texas, Washington and Oregon consecutively in June 2024. I rented a (4×4) car in Texas, because it gave me the freedom to camp freely on the beach, see a photo of it below:

I made some short videos on Instagram explaining exactly what camping equipment I bought. All in all it only cost me $150 and that gave me more than a week of wild camping wherever I wanted. I have used this trick before in America to save money. You can watch the videos (stories) about camping on the beach in Texas here see back.
