The remote island of Madagascar with the unnameable capital Antananarivo is one of the most special places in Africa. Precisely because it is cut off from the mainland, Madagascar has some unique spots and inhabitants. Madagascar has a bit of everything. The population has brought its own customs and beliefs from Asia and Africa. From the Far East you will find rickshaws and rice terraces here, from Black Africa superstition and exuberance and in skin color you see all variants from yellow to black.

Unique plants and animals

In all areas you will find an extensive and unique animal population. The baobabs – characteristic trees with flat roofs – can only be admired here. The prosimians that we know as lemurs can only be found on this island, which is the largest island in the world after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo.

Capital Antananarivo

Antananarivo is the capital of Madagascar. African busy with nice markets and cozy streets while poverty is never far away. Because the inhabitants of Madagascar are not well off. Toamasina, the port city on the east coast of the island, is also a nice place to visit. From here you can easily travel to the surrounding nature reserves.
