Winter sports | 5x cheap destinations

During this heat, do you dream about white slopes and fun in the mountains next winter? Then we have some budget-friendly winter sports destinations for you here! Going on winter sports does not have to mean that you will be broke. With the following destinations you can really enjoy the slopes and still have money left over to update your winter sports equipment.

1. Vogel, Slovenia

Although Slovenia is a good distance from the Netherlands, there are many winter sports opportunities in the country. Vogel is not the most famous, but one of them. The area is part of Triglav National Park (location here) and has 30 kilometers of slopes with a decent snow guarantee.

It is a beautiful ski area and it is ideal for families. There is not really much nightlife, but the prices here are a lot lower than, for example, ski areas in the Alps. A ski pass (here for sale) will cost you an average of 35 euros per day or 153 euros for six days. A beer costs on average only two euros and a bottle of wine about 5 euros.

2. Borovets, Bulgaria

Borovets is also not next door, but is a lively, cheap and cozy town and the oldest ski resort in Bulgaria! It is a ski area with 58 km of slopes and is located south of the capital Sofia. From mid-December to mid-March you have great snow security. It has a great nightlife, so the winter sports destination for the party animals among us.

A drink will cost you between 2,50 and 3,05 euros. Note: You pay here with the Bulgarian Lev (BGN). A day ski pass costs 38,35 euros and 188,85 euros for 6 days. A bargain compared to Austria and Switzerland, so save money for new ski clothes!

3. Livigno, Italy

Livigno is located in the north of Italy just below Switzerland, in a duty-free zone. It has 115 kilometers of slopes and from mid-December to April there is between 70 and 100% snow guarantee!

There is not a lot of nightlife, but fun can be found there. A beer will cost you on average 3 to 5 euros, depending on which bar you are in. A ski pass for 6 days costs 259 euros and 52 euros per day.

4. Soell, Austria

Söll is a small town in Tyrol in Austria. It is perfectly quiet for families and beginners. and has 288 km of slopes. Après-Ski can also be found there, but it is larger and more international at neighboring Westendorf. Because it borders on Westendorf and other large(er) ski areas, you can easily find accommodations and therefore conviviality in the area.

On average, a beer or wine will cost you 4 euros. A ski pass will cost you 51,50 euros for a day or 245 for six days.

5. Andermatt, Switzerland

Andermatt may not be cheaper than the destinations in Slovenia or Bulgaria, but it is a cheaper option for in Switzerland. It has 101 kilometers of slopes. It is suitable for advanced players, it is quiet and you can eat well. Due to its location, it is a distinctly snow-sure area.

You pay 5,60 euros for a beer. For a ski pass you pay 95 euros per day or 335 euros per six days. Your ski clothing updates this year may only consist of a new pair of gloves and thick socks instead of a new ski jacket, but you will certainly save here too!
