Bali reopens to tourists | First flights on February 16

TRAVEL NEWS – January 31, 2022: After a silence of almost half a year, there is news again from the immensely popular Indonesian island of Bali for the Dutch. Bali will gradually reopen to foreign tourists, the Indonesian Immigration Service announced in a press conference last weekend. Singapore Airlines will be the first to begin direct flights to Bali International Airport (DPS) on February 16, two months earlier than announced last year.

More positive changes to the travel and quarantine requirements are expected to be announced in the coming days. In particular, the list of nationalities that can arrive directly in Bali will be expanded. The mandatory quarantine (currently 10 days) will most likely be reduced to just 2 nights.

Europe and the Netherlands

The airline Singapore Airlines, together with Indonesian officials, has clarified the reopening of this route and expects to fly daily to Bali from February 16.

International travelers can book flights to Bali through Singapore from one of the many countries to which Singapore Airlines flies, including countries in Europe† This means that Dutch people, whether or not via a detour, to travel to Bali again.

This also means that digital nomads being able to 'quarantine' again in Bali, something that until now was only technically possible, because airlines simply did not fly.

Number of countries to be expanded soon

According to the current travel regulations, only 18 nationalities are allowed to come to Bali directly from abroad, the Netherlands is not yet among them. This is a list that the government pre-omicron has announced and therefore will be updated and expanded shortly† These are the topics that have been discussed and for which updates will be announced soon.

  • Singaporean citizens are visa-free
  • Mandatory quarantine reduced to 2 nights / 3 days (see the list of quarantine hotels at the bottom of this page)
  • Quarantine in Hotels in Nusa Duac
  • Visit Visa B211A still necessary for the time being.
  • More direct flights to Bali
  • Number of countries to be expanded soon

These changes are expected to be announced within a few weeks. Depending on the nationalities allowed to arrive directly in Bali, these changes could finally be the first real step towards the reopening of Bali. It's only a matter of time before other airlines follow suit.

Bali reopening postponed several times

In the course of 2021 we have heard more positive sounds from Bali, but these plans were repeatedly postponed due to new covid-19 variants and rising contamination figures. You can read the news items about this below in chronological order.

Fortunately, this time it seems to be different. The Omicron has visibly less impact on the population and that is why the Indonesian government chooses to reopen the island to tourists.

  • Nonsense, the Dutch have not needed a visa for Bali for years.
You used to have Visa on Arrival, which has been abolished for years.

  • Quarantine means 3 days/2 nights locked up in a hotel room in jakarta in Bali you can only stay in the hotel
Stay in the environment, PCR test is done 72 hours before departure, another test on arrival at the hotel, after 2 nights another 1x pcr test.

  • Good afternoon,

Does anyone know anything more about what the quarantine will entail exactly? Do we really have to stay in our room for 3 days or are you allowed to use the hotel facilities, but not leave the hotel?

And is it the intention that a PCR test has to be done before you can leave quarantine?

  • According to the local media here and the announcements from the central government, all international travelers will be welcome back to Bali from February 4, 2022. The quarantine period has currently been reduced from 7 to 5 days for fully vaccinated. Not fully vaccinated must be quarantined for 7 days. Only 5 hotels have been designated as quarantine hotels at the moment. There are also conditions that travelers must meet. See the article at balidiscovery.com For example, that an e-visa must be applied for and not upon arrival at the airport.

  • You always need a visa !! For 30 days you can buy a visa on arrival at the airport in Bali !! Ask Tui!!

  • Good morning!

We have also seen these messages pass by and immediately booked our honeymoon through Tui. We will fly there on May 23 and back on June 17. For now we have only booked a hotel for the first three nights. But this one is not listed with the quarantine hotels. TUI also says nothing about a possible visa. We also fly with Emirates with a stopover in Dubai.

We are curious whether this booking can be carried out.
