Mauritius offers free Covid-19 vaccinations to tourists with visa

TRAVEL NEWS – March 9, 2021: The government of Mauritius has expanded its vaccination program against Covid-19 to include all citizens, residents and international visitors who have a long-term visa and are older than 18 years.

Free vaccinations for visa holders

Visitors and tourists who hold the premium visa and residents of Mauritius with a work permit, residence permit or professional permit are eligible for free vaccinations.

Mauritius is the only country in the world to offer free long-term visitor visas and a free Covid-19 vaccine to holders of these visas.

The comprehensive vaccination program is part of the national campaign to keep Mauritius Covid-19 safe and to allow for the full reopening of international borders once herd immunity is achieved.

Mauritius uses the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

MTPA encourages anyone eligible to accept this offer and works in the tourism industry to promote adoption.

The island has seen a total of 620 cases of Covid-19 so far and will allow for the full reopening of international borders once herd immunity is achieved.
