Travel advice adjusted February 16 | 30 countries and distant destinations

TRAVEL NEWS – January 15, 2022: From Wednesday morning, February 16, the travel advice will be disconnected from the number of infections and the overall corona situation in a specific country. This means that dozens of countries will immediately go back to yellow. De Telegraaf and NU.nl reported this earlier today. These relaxations are in addition to the announcements in today's press conference, in which especially the relaxations in The Netherlands themselves were discussed.

UPDATE – February 16, 2022: list of countries that have been put on green and yellow is currently being worked on, see below. Unfortunately, there is no list available from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so we are currently manually checking all countries. The page will be updated several times today and tomorrow.

Travel advice easing February 16

On Wednesday morning, February 16, about 30 popular travel destinations are already going yellow, which means that the Dutch government no longer gives negative travel advice for these countries, regardless of the corona situation.

Since the start of the corona crisis, travel advice has been linked to the corona figures. That meant that almost the whole world turned orange. This meant that only necessary trips were possible and holidays were strongly discouraged. This measure will now expire, which means that a large part of the world will go yellow again.

Exactly which 30 countries these are remains to be seen, tomorrow that will only be shown on the travel advice website www.nederlandworldwide.nl† In the coming days and weeks, the relaxation of the travel advice will also be looked at for all other countries, in addition to the initial 30.

We will of course update this article with the list of countries in the near future, as soon as they are available. Tomorrow we expect to have at least the list of the first 30 countries.

List of countries that have been relaxed:

UPDATE – February 16, 2022: Unfortunately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has still not given any clarity on WHAT countries have been put on yellow and green, there is still no current list available. We have now asked BZ for clarification.

Well we see, if we manually search per country, that several countries have already been put on green and yellow. Travel world happy with relaxation

The travel world welcomes these relaxations with open arms. The industry has been hit hard by the orange blanket that was rolled out across the world. There was even a lawsuit about it last fall, but the advice remained. That had everything to do with the fact that it is an advice and not a rule.

Traveling was possible – and insurance too

Meanwhile, in recent months we have seen more and more travel insurers responding to the unclear situation. More and more insurers chose to also include orange and red areas under the travel insurance, because there was an enormous demand for this.

This was simply because many reel travelers and tour companies have completely ignored the advice. For example, large tour operators simply carried out holidays to countries such as Tanzania, Kenya and The Gambia. Numerous travelers also left for countries such as Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. More and more insurers also took this into account.

A run on long journeys

Despite the fact that many daredevils have traveled in the past year, it is now expected that there will be a flood of bookings for long-haul trips. Now that the Dutch government is letting go of everything again and your normal insurer is also covering everything again, there is no longer any reason to stay close to home.

At the same time, we also see that countries such as Thailand, , Peru, The United States, Indonesia en Australië reopened to tourists, which will only further encourage travelers to book that long-delayed trip.

A run on long journeys also means a limited supply and therefore rapidly rising prices! To make it easier for you, we have collected the most popular long-distance travel specialists for you below.
