The town is a 6 km drive from L'Estartit Torrella de Montgri. If you drive towards L'Estartit, you will pass through this town. In my other blog I'll tell you what you can do here and where you can eat!
The great city of Girona (location here ) is a 45 km drive from L'Estartit. This city has its old center on a steep hill, so you can enjoy walking through the narrow streets and the steep stairs. At the top of one of the stairs you will find La Catedral de Santa Maria, well worth it.
Paaseig de la Muralla is also recommended. You walk a walking route over the city walls with a beautiful view of the city! And the Onyar river with its colored houses cannot be missed during your tip to Girona.

At a 20 km drive from L'Estartit, in the south of the Costa Brava north, you will find the medieval village in peratalla. You will find old churches, beautiful entrance gates, a clock tower, large squares, shops and restaurants. You can climb the bell tower, which gives you a great view of Peratallada. Walk through the streets and alleys and be amazed by this beautiful village.
On the main street, the Carrer Mayor, you will find the restaurant La Cort (location here ). Here you can enjoy a delicious meal on the terrace at the rear of the restaurant, overlooking a small square, but you can also walk inside to take a look.
Pals is 15 km from L'Estartit. A beautiful spot on the Costa Brava.
Pals, like Peratallada, is known for its medieval center. Here you can also stroll through the alleys and streets with souvenir shops and restaurants. In Pals you will find many ceramic shops with very nice items for the home.
In Pals, take a look at the viewpoint Mirador Josep Pla. From this point you have a beautiful view over the Illes Medes, Massís del Montgrí (a mountain massif), the heights of Canigó and the Sierra de l'Albera in the Pyrenees and the sea.
For Figueres (location here ) you have to drive a bit further from L'Estartit, namely 40 km, but definitely worth it. Figueres is the birthplace of the famous artist Salvador Dali. You can of course visit the Dalí Theater and Museum here, but in Figueres you will also find the Museu del Joguet de Catalunya, a toy museum with toys from different time periods.
Figueres is a nice city to walk through, with its beautiful squares and nice streets with many shops and restaurants.
Roses is a seaside resort 60 km north of L'Estartit, in the north of the Costa Brava. The beach of Roses is 4 km long and a promenade runs along this beach. If you walk (or drive) down the boulevard, you will come to a fortress, Castillo de la Trinidad. At the fort you have a great view over the bay. A tip: check the opening hours if you want to take a look inside, so that you don't go there for nothing.
Roses has a nice center with some large shops, but in the alleys you will find smaller shops and restaurants.
In a narrow street behind the boulevard we found Las 3 Caravelas (location here ). A colorful, creative and small restaurant with delicious food! Choose the daily menu with various fish dishes and you will leave happy. The choice is limited, but the dishes are freshly prepared and are slightly different than usual. Also order the sangria here, in my opinion the best in the area! Highly recommended!
A 15 km drive from L'Estartit to the north L'Escala. L'Escala is a fishing village on the Costa Brava and very popular with tourists. The center has narrow alleys, nice souvenir shops and good restaurants. In the center of L'Escala you will also find a beach, La Platja, with cozy bars and cafes around this beach.
Would you like to eat for a small price at a restaurant with a Michelin star? Then put on nice clothes and go to Mas Concas. This restaurant is located outside the center, about a 3 km drive (location here ). On arrival you wonder if you're okay and when you leave you definitely want to go back!
