Tips for making a long journey

Are you dreaming of your first long-distance trip, but are you excited to go further than Europe? Destinations such as Canada, Indonesia or South Africa can indeed be experienced as a bit exciting, but that is of course not surprising. An average holiday for most Dutch people often looks the same and that means; Sun, sea and beach. This is of course not the case during a beautiful trip to the south of Africa. Because we really understand that it is exciting, we have a number of tips for you if you have been thinking about taking a long trip for a while.

Alone or with a group

When you make a long journey, this can of course be done in different ways. So can you choose to go alone or do you choose a group? By alone we of course do not mean alone, but with your family or partner. The advantage of a fully organized group trip is that you don't have to worry about anything and therefore transport in the country itself is arranged for you. Ideal so that you can sit in the back of a bus or car while the driver takes you from A to B. This gives you the opportunity to quietly enjoy the surroundings or play a game of poker in the area best casino online on your phone. Once you arrive at your destination, someone will be waiting for you and will guide you.

Determine your destination

After you have decided whether you want to travel alone or with a group, the destination is not entirely unimportant. It is of course a huge difference whether you go on safari to South Africa or whether you brave the cold of Canada to go whale watching there. What is especially important is that you look at the company you are traveling with. Suppose you have a family with young children, then it may not be ideal to have to trek the necessary kilometers through the jungle every day to get to your destination. A safari through South Africa in a bus or jeep would then be more obvious.

Arrange everything well in advance

A holiday to a faraway country is slightly different than when you decide to take a last-minute break in the Spanish sun for a week. For some long-distance destinations it is necessary to arrange some important matters in advance. Of course, you need to make sure that your passport is still valid long enough, so it is wise to check this well before your departure. Taking out travel insurance is always a good idea, so that you are properly supported in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Obtaining a visa is mandatory for certain countries, but procedures vary by country and can be arranged online or through the embassy. If you plan to drive in countries such as South Africa, you will also need to obtain an international driver's license. And last but not least, don't forget to get informed about mandatory and recommended vaccinations for the country in question. This can often be done easily with your GP or the GGD.
