Angola, officially the Republic of Angola, is a country in South West Africa. It is bordered to the south by Namibia, to the north by Congo-Kinshasa, Zambia to the east and to the west it borders the Atlantic Ocean. The capital is Luanda, where approximately a third of the population lives.

Angola has a rich flora & fauna. There are several national parks and many animal species live in the wild (elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra). Angola used to be known for its coffee exports. Nowadays this market has disappeared and Angola relies mainly on oil resources. There is also still a lot of work being done in the field of mining. For example, gold, copper, iron ore, lead and zinc are extracted in the mines of Angola. Due to the many landmines spread throughout Angola, little cultivation is done. Food must therefore largely be imported to provide the population with food. Angola is known for being one of the poorest countries in Africa. 70% of the population lives below the poverty line.

Christianity is the most important religion in Angola with 79% (41% Catholics and 38% Protestants). Since the first contacts with the Portuguese, many people from the various Angolan peoples have been Christianized over the centuries (partly due to the work of the missionaries and missionaries). 12% of the population is not religious and less than 9% has another religion, of which less than 1% follows Islam.
