Indonesia
Indonesia is a very popular travel destination for many travelers. Rightly so. This beautiful country with its outstanding nature, landscapes, culture and sights will amaze every seasoned traveler with its beauty. A tour through this country always takes just too short to get everything on board. That's why we say, just go more often! Java, Sumatra and Bali, you simply have to see everything once.
The land of thousands of islands
The capital of Indonesia is very busy Jakarta. But the country still has a few large cities with at least one million inhabitants, such as Bandung, Makassar, Malang, Semarang and Surabaya. The country is therefore inhabited by about 240 million inhabitants and is the fourth largest country measured by population. In total you will find 17.508 islands here. This makes Indonesia the world's largest island state. Impressive figures that belong to an impressive country.
Indonesia Landmarks
Where do you start? What about the cultural capital Yogyakarta where you will find the Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist shrine. Or the Tanah Lot Temple in Bali. Or the temple complex Prambanan in Central Java. And then there are the sunny beaches in Bali, the jungles and authentic rice fields. On Sumatra you will find volcanoes, jungles and an unprecedented diversity of animal species. Enough choice! Indonesia will not disappoint you in any case.
Mount Bromo and Borobudur
Where do you start? That is a difficult question, because Indonesia has a lot to offer. Java is the most populous and most modern island, with busy cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya and Yogyakarta. It is the cultural center of Indonesia for handicrafts, famous Wayang puppet shows, dance performances and artistic batik and silver work. More facts about the country in: Wikipedia Indonesia
The special smoking Bromo volcano can be visited here, as well as the most important Buddhist monument of the southern hemisphere: the impressive Borobudur temple complex.
Lombok and Sumatra
Lombok is sometimes called the Bali of the past. It has at least as much to offer, but it is less touristy and it is a beautiful green island with volcanoes and temples. In the smaller villages, the men and women still traditionally sleep separately and there are beautiful deserted beaches where you can also surf.
The nearby Gili Islands are three tropical paradises surrounded by clear blue waters and coral reefs. There are only dirt tracks and small horse carts that can be rented as taxis. On the quieter parts of the islands you can still play Robinson Crusoe and collect coconuts. On the other hand, you can relax and watch DVDs in the many restaurants and get your PADI.
